Challenge

Modern office design often prioritizes an open work space environment—but this can come at the cost of privacy and comfort. At Avery Dennison’s EMENA Headquarters in Oegstgeest, the Netherlands, facility managers faced the challenge of maintaining a professional office environment while also creating cozy, private spaces for meetings, calls, and focused work. The goal was to enhance the working environment without compromising the open-plan concept.

Solution

Squid® Window Textile offered the ideal balance between form and function. With its minimalist appearance, it enhanced the visual appeal of glass partitions, bringing warmth and texture to the office interior.  Most importantly, Squid allows clear visibility from the inside while obscuring the view from the outside – perfect for creating discreet meeting areas and quiet zones. Applied across key areas of the building, Squid helped define private spaces while preserving the collaborative spirit of the open office layout.

Results

The application of Squid® Window Textile brought immediate aesthetic and functional benefits. Employees now enjoy increased visual privacy and a more intimate, comfortable atmosphere. In addition, the textile provides passive solar control – blocking up to one-third of the sun’s heat – contributing to a more energy-efficient and comfortable workspace.

“Applying the material is a piece of cake; it's very easy to apply and reposition. Just be sure to use the right amount of pressure.” – Trainer
